Modal Synesthesia. What exactly is it?

Here's Google's definition of Modal - of or denoting music using melodies or harmonies based on modes other than the ordinary major and minor scales and Synesthesia is the production of a sense impression relating to one sense or part of the body by stimulation of another sense or part of the body. (That's what google says so its true..)

Well my definition differs...slightly. I tend to feel music like you feel cold or heat. For some time, I used to wonder how to capture the feeling you get from hearing certain singers and different songs through the years. I've always liked music but officially started my journey playing keyboards back in 99' (that's 19..99 lol). I didn't know what I wanted to accomplish at that time. I just knew I just liked to play and hear tones that would stir something from within. As time progressed, I learned more about myself and what I like musically. However in this world we live in, the majority would call for you to chose sides. In fact some folks actually despise others for their preferences of music, amongst other things.

Now fast forward to April 5, 2017. Computer Music Academy bka CMA. Weekly Homework Assignments bka WHA. Okay basically how it works, you receive different musical tasks that you have to complete from week to week. It could be to flip/interpolate a well known sample, create something from scratch or even use a particular set of sounds exclusively. In the next 40 weeks, I would discover more about myself musically than in all my years just being a fan. I learned to become comfortable being myself. Each assignment required me to figure it out and deliver the best way I knew how.

I initially started this journey to work on things I wanted to improve upon. This project is a culmination of the progress that I feel I've made in a short time. Some are my most favorite songs that I've ever made, while others showed me that I have the potential to create whatever my brain can dream up. Overall I was able to affect my mood while creating these songs, which in essence is Modal Synesthesia...to me.

I hope that this finds yours ears and your heart with the image of what could be.
